The electron probe microanalyser (EPMA): a device tied to ENSCL history

The « Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie deLille » (ENSCL) has been at the top of the electronic microanalysis field for more than 40 years. Indeed, the first Castaing type EPMA arrived at ENSCL in 1966. We are now at the third generation of this device. It was, and still is, the only machine of its kind north of Paris.

For two years now, the ENSCL has been responsible for this new microanalyser with the support of the Chevreul Institute (a group of chemistry labs at the University of Lille ). It is the latest generation of EPMA, a CAMECA model SX100. It completes the electronic microscopy characterisation capabilities of the University of Lille for trace and light elements analysis in emerging materials, and is an integral part of current and future research projects.

The EPMA is a highly advanced device; its modernisation permits the continuation of dynamic and high-performance research and teaching. It opens the possibility of innovation and new collaborations with other laboratories and companies.

After two years of utilisation, this device has demonstrated the quality of its analyses and its potential for future developments.

 PRICES :

The ENSCL is responsible for all financial support for the necessary annual maintenance. Thus, the prices listed below for the use of the Cameca SX100 EPMA are fixed by the ENSCL.

For University labs :

-          ½ day price for non-subscribers: 350 € HT

-          ½ day price for subscribers: 70 € HT

-          sample preparation: 200 € HT

For private companies:

-          ½ day price: 750 € HT
