Hélène Olivier-Bourbigou holds a BS in Chemistry the Ecole Natinale de Chimie de Rennes (1985).
She received her Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1988 under the supervision of Henri Kagan and Yves Chauvin and her HDR in 2005 from the Université de Paris VI.
She spent a post-doctoral year at the University of Sussex in England in 1988-89, where she worked with Prof. M.F. Lappert. She joined IFP-Rueil in 1989.
Her main research interests include organometallic chemistry and the research and industrial development of homogeneous catalytic processes : oligomerisation, metathesis, hydroformylation and hydrogenation of unsaturated hydrocarbons. She is particularly involved in the research and development of liquid-liquid biphasic catalysis technology using ionic liquids.
She is the author of more than 30 publications and more than 35 patents. In 2005, she co-edited the book "Multiphase Homogeneous Catalysis" (Wiley-VCH), (see the preface).
From 2002, she has been the "Head of the Molecular Catalysis Department" at IFP-Lyon.
